Mrs. Klincewicz Spanish Newsletter To summarize,
in grades K through 5th we have covered colors, numbers and
started learning a few greetings in Spanish such as “Buenos dias” and “Como estas?” which
mean “Good morning” and “How are you?”.
Students have done a marvelous job learning their songs in Spanish and
following our daily routine. Now that
they will be introduced to a new set of vocabulary words on a weekly basis,
they will learn an action for each word and play more games to challenge
their memory. We will continue to
practice our greetings in Spanish and at the same time, begin our new unit of
“School”. (ie: pencil, backpack, crayons, etc.) Song: “Buenos dias” “Good morning” Games: “frio o caliente” “hot or cold” “electricidad” “electricity” “mochila,
mochila” “backpack, backpack” Grades 6th
through 8th, have also done a marvelous
job in terms of their efforts in a second language. We finished our unit on greetings in
Spanish. They practiced their
greetings with partners and created a mini dialogue cartoon in Spanish. We also had a brief lesson on “El dia de los muertos” or “the day
of the dead” which is a holiday celebrated in Mexico around this time of year
that relates to Halloween and All Souls Day.
Our next unit will be on “La Familia” which
is “The family”. Students will get a
chance to describe their family members in Spanish in simple sentence
form. As a project, we will create
classroom photo albums. The monthly
thematic units for K through 5th grade are as follows: September Colors October Numbers/Greetings/Introduction
Phrases November School December Family/Friends/Community January Body/Self/Emotions February Clothes/Weather/Calendar March Food April Animals May Home/Town Please note
that I will post monthly newsletters to give you an overview of what we are
doing in Spanish class. If you have
