Discovery Club
(before and after school care)

Club hours:  Morning session opens at 7:00 a.m. and children go directly to their classrooms at 8:05 a.m.  After school, the children come down to the Club at dismissal and may remain until the Club closes at 6:00 p.m.  The Club is in session on school days only.  

Fees:  Registration fee is $15 per family for the year.  Daily fees are $4.50 per day/per child for the AM session and $7.50 per day/per child for the PM session.  If your child is picked up before 3:00 pm, the charge is only $2.00.   Late pick-up fee (when a child is picked up after the 6:00 pm closing time)  $7.00 per child up to 15 minutes late; thereafter an additional $5 per child for each 15 minute period (or part thereof).   Payment for Club fees is paid the week that they are incurred.  Credit is given for any paid days the child does not attend.  Detailed statements of accounts are handed out in December and June.

Afternoon sessions on half-days:  Child must be registered for these days and money paid in advance.  The hours would be 11:40 am – 6:00 pm.  The fee is $14.00 for the entire afternoon regardless of pick-up time.  The children must bring their own lunch and drink.  An afternoon snack is provided. Children may bring an additional snack and breakfast may be brought in the morning.

Band

Band is a great extra-curricular activity. It is open to all 4th-8th grade students at Divine Infant. Playing a musical instrument is fun and has been shown to boost students' grades in Math and Science.

Divine Infant has two bands - a Junior Band for 4th and 5th grade students, and Senior Band for 6th - 8th grade junior high students. During the school year, Band students receive a group lesson once a week, and Senior Band students receive 2 full rehearsals per week.

Beginning students start learning their instruments during a Summer Program prior to starting 4th grade.

Our Band participates in the Vandercook College of Music Honorfest and the National Catholic Band Association Solo Contest and Band Contest. The Band gives two concerts a year and performs for the Christmas Show, Talent Show, and the school Spring Show. Senior Band plays for the 8th grade graduation ceremony.

8th Grade Art Club

8th graders who have an interest in art draw and paint a mural on a school wall under the direction of Ms. Gleeson, the art teacher. The Class of 2006 painted a jungle mural on the wall near Pre-School and Kindergarten. The Class of 2007 painted a mural showing the internet connecting Divine Infant students to the world on the wall outside the Computer Lab. The Class of 2008 painted on a mural outside the library showing how books can inspire the imagination..

Sports

Students in Grades 5 through 8 may participate in the following sports: co-ed soccer, boys basketball,
girls basketball, girls volleyball and cheerleading.
